DONATE NOW AND HELP SUPPORT CLCR IN SPONSORING A CHILD’S EDUCATION THROUGH THE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME

CLCR, “Providing Opportunities Through Education”: Here’s Why

Nepal is the third poorest country in the world and many of its children are often reduced to begging and living on the streets for means of survival. In many cases these children both have no access to a schooling facility nor can they afford to attend on a regular basis.

Thus, in an effort to modify and support, CLCR looks to provide these children and the marginalized groups of Nepal with scholarship education and hostel accommodation opportunities through its school project, Heartland Children’s Academy (HCA). As little as $1.15 AUD per day is all it takes to educate a child at HCA and change a life.

CLCR is currently working with children's homes all over Kathmandu in an effort to outsource children from all over the country for scholarships at HCA.

In providing student scholarships, CLCR is constantly on the look-out through its “Scholarship Outreach Team” in an effort to find individuals and organizations that are interested in student sponsorship at HCA.

Please read on to find out how you can be involved in sponsoring a child and providing them with educational opportunities and a better chance at life through CLCR and the HCA school project. Here are some examples of the kind of tragic cases we look to provide for everyday through our student scholarship scheme at HCA.

Meet Devendra, he is currently five years of age. Devendra suffers from Autism and birth defects related to his mother’s alcoholism during pregnancy. He was found living on the streets of Kathmandu next to a rubbish heap, had limited ability to speak, no foreseeable source of food, education, accommodation or parental care. He is an orphan staying within one of the orphanages CLCR supports and he is a typical example of the kind of child CLCR looks to support through sponsors/ donors to its scholarship scheme with the HCA school project.

HCA Scholarships & the “Family Assistance Program (FAP)”

Coinciding with our individual scholarship program that we coordinate within the children’s homes we currently work with. We also look to take a holistic family orientated approach in providing what we call the “Family Assistance Program (FAP)”. For example, many families within the communities in which we work cannot afford to send all their children to school, thus generally a family with four children will only send two of their kids to school. With the other two missing out on the opportunity and growing up without the privilege and the benefits of gaining an education.

We see cases such as this every day and to support underprivileged families in this situation (through the work of our CLCR/ HCA Scholarship Outreach Team) we look to implement the FAP in an effort to take on and provide opportunities for children/ families like this to attend HCA on a scholarship basis.

This program has been set up with the notion that no Nepali child should be without an education, regardless of their ability to afford it or not.

Here are a few photographic examples of some of the Nepali families we have targeted for the FAP within HCA & other HCA students that have benefited from scholarship support

Below is another example of the sort of cases we support thorugh our HCA scholarshp program:
