• Professional Development Workshop, Turkey, 2008
CLCR’S School project, The Heartland Children’s Academy (HCA) as a national education provider is an institutional member of the Nepali education body entitled QUEST (Quality Circles in Education for Students Personality Development in Nepal). Within this field HCA has joined many other schools in Kathmandu in working together to provide a better quality of education that is not just academically based to all Nepali children attending school. Currently we are doing this through the ideas and implementation of programs initiated in our school via our students within its Student Representative Council.
Late in August of this year CLCR sent our HCA Principal, Nirajan Adhikari to the 11th International Convention on Students working in Quality Circles in education (SQC) held in Istanbul, Turkey. The conference was jointly coordinated by the Turkish Center for Schools of Quality and Peace Education and QUEST. The conference and work shop activities focused on:
• Developing within students the ability to think independently and creatively
• The essence and quality of group work within the class room in an effort to achieve greater educational outcomes and personal development
• How to provide the concept of “Total Quality Education (TQE)” which encompasses and provides for the development of the behavioral, psycho-social, moral and academic development of children within your schooling environment
• And the skills and training methods needed for the schools teachers to help foster and develop these factors within their students and their class rooms
Presentations and workshop activities on these topics were conducted by both students and teachers from 11 different countries attending the conference.
In which we aim to take this information back to the students and teachers to discuss the best ways to utilize the knowledge gained from these activities in an effort to provide an even better student centered learning environment for the kids and its teacher’s at HCA.
