Child/Student Sponsorships

Nepal is the third poorest country in the world and many of its children are often reduced to begging and living on the streets for means of survival. In the majority of cases these children have no access to a schooling facility nor could they afford to attend on a regular basis.

CLCR looks to provide these children and other marginalised groups of Nepal with a scholarship education, including on-site hostel accommodation through its school project, HCA.

As little as AUD$1.15 per day is all it takes to educate and house a child at HCA and change a life.

CLCR is currently working with children's homes in Kathmandu and surrounds in an effort to source children from all over the country for HCA scholarships. We also have plans to expand and renovate the HCA hostel to provide more scholarship packages.

It's as easy as AUD$35 a month to completely change the life of another, to enable them to have a future where they can earn a living and give back to their society, rather than be dependent on the whims of others.

Meet Devendra, he is currently five years of age. Devendra suffers from Autism and birth defects related to his mother’s alcoholism during pregnancy. He was found living on the streets of Kathmandu next to a rubbish heap, had limited ability to speak, no foreseeable source of food, education, accommodation or parental care. He is an orphan staying within one of the orphanages CLCR supports and he is a typical example of the kind of child CLCR looks to support through sponsors/ donors to its scholarship scheme with the HCA school project.

The Family Assistance Program

The Family Assistance Program (FAP) has been developed in response to issues encountered whilst running the individual scholarship program. We discovered that many families within the communities in which we work can not afford to send all their children to school. Thus, a family with little money will save for years to send one or two of their kids to school - whilst the others miss out on the privilege and consequent life benefits of gaining an education. Not surprisingly these children are often girls. CLCR believes strongly that the equal education of girls will lead to far-reaching positive change. Therefore we have taken a holistic family orientated approach in providing what we call the Family Assistance Program (FAP)

Understandably, when considering Nepal's economic situation, we see cases like this every day. To support underprivileged families in this situation (through the work of our CLCR/ HCA Scholarship Outreach Team) we look to provide opportunities for children/ families like this to attend HCA on a scholarship basis. To become involved in this program is AUD$35 per month - a very small price to pay to ensure that each child in a family has the opportunity to become an independent asset to their family and community.

Below is a photo of a Nepali family involved with the FAP at the HCA (left) and other HCA students that have benefited from scholarship support.

Circle of Child's Rights Protectors (CRP)

We have created this exclusive group for interested corporate entities, conscious individuals, community groups and organisations who have joined us in the quest for providing overall protection and promotion of Nepali children's rights. This scheme is called the Circle of Child Rights Protectors (CRP). For a tax deductible annual fee of AUD$5,000 you can take on the status of a registered CRP and join us in the task of providing violence free education, a greater access to education facilities for the underprivileged children of Nepal, scholarship programs, and the facilitation of conflict resolution training workshops to Nepal’s teachers.

Bovindra at two years of ages was found on the streets of Kathmandu, abandoned with no parents, no access to health care, education, appropriate food, water, clothing or shelter. He had multiple infectious skin and parasitic conditions and his wounds suggested sexual and physical abuse.

A truly tragic case that you can help provide an educational future for, join us now by making a secure tax deductible donation today!

Bovindras story is just one of the many reasons we commenced the CRP
